WELL Africa
Acted as photographer and International Communications Advisor. Traveled to Cote D'Ivoire for four weeks in June/July 2013 to meet with the Ministry of Education, The International Labor Organization, Mayor Yao Nadri of Meagui and other local leaders to create partnerships. Helped organize and paint the local hospital in Touih. Helped document and conduct an education evaluation of the children in the village of Ipaudeh.
At BYU-Hawaii in 2013, helped organize awareness concert about child labor in the cocoa industry. Wrote and produced a short documentary about the cocoa industry and facilitated a discussion on changing perceptions of child labor. Wrote press releases, brochures, and reports.
WELL Africa is an NGO with programs designed to eliminate child labor in Cote D’Ivoire’s cocoa supply chain by working side by side with all the actors in the industry—from framers, to chocolate companies, to other NGOs and government bodies. Founded by a former child laborer.
